Grade 1 Word Wall
The Word Wall is a list of 100 common words that we want all grade 1 students to recognize instantly and write from memory.
Many of these words appear frequently in the texts your child reads each day. Memorizing these words will help your child to read with speed and accuracy. It frees up mental energy for tackling unfamiliar words.
Many of these words also help us to learn familiar word "chunks" that can help us when reading other words (e.g., "-ight" from the word "night" will help us to read other words like "fight, might, sight, and flashlight").
